Mr. Purple Moves Out

Last fall I had a fortunate accident. I got my toe caught in the door (yes, ouch) while I was trying to scamper too quickly in from getting the mail in the dark and ripped the be-hey-soos out of my left big toenail.

immediately after the incident - i was MAD because i wrecked my pedicure and i'd done an especially nice job on it.

I thought for weeks it was going to fall off but it didn't. And then... Mr. Purple appeared! He's been my buddy since September!

hi mr. purple! nice to meet you!

In case you're wondering, I give myself a pedicure every two weeks even if it's not sandal weather. I wasn't too upset about Mr. Purple last September because I knew sandal season was coming to a close. I didn't care so much; I soon began to celebrate Mr. Purple. I took his picture every two weeks when I took off the nail polish and re-painted my toes. Please check out his evolution:

mr. purple finally started growing out in this photo - i was relieved; i thought i would lose him forever!

he's really on a roll now...

this was during a real, not homemade, pedicure - i stopped the woman cold so i could snap mr. purple's pic

almost gone....

And then, Mr. Purple! You're gone!

Cue soundtrack, please:

pic taken upstairs just now... sniff sniff! good bye, mr. purple! you sure were... interesting... to have around!

I always felt like I had to keep an eye on Mr. Purple so I French pedicured my toes through the winter primarily so I could keep tabs on him. A few times though, I did go for color and had matchy matchy toes for a couple of weeks.

matchy matchy black toes

matchy matchy pink toes for amanda's wedding

matchy matchy red toes with flower decals at the beach last week (this is mr. purple. i didn't take this photo - all other pics have been taken by me; this was taken by kristina so it's opposite. and pretty gross - i'd been participating in an epic volleyball tourney and had gotten out of the pool {after about two hours} to go retrieve a wayward volleyball.) the green arrow is pointing to the mr. purple part, see?

He also made a couple of sneak appearances on mymegaexcitinglife too!

here we are putting our best foot forward last spring at the hearing and speech foundation fashion show

and here he made a sneak appearance on my birthday while i was watching summer magic. mr. purple, i see you!

Well, Mr. Purple, I wish you all the best. You have been a good purple toe. THE BEST!

Epic beach blog post coming next week - stay tuned!
