Odds and Ends, King Wedding!

This week, as per usual, was a busy one. Both Mr. Smith and I run around so much that when we have down time to be chill and relax, we really enjoy it. Mr. Smith went out to a concert Tuesday night and I had the whole house to myself! I seized the opportunity. After work, I got laundry done and still had time to:

paint my toenails and watch a movie - i had the whole tv all to myself!

I also had time to:

play with my santas

And, spend some one-on-one time with my main man, Mr. Lokisano:

he did not enjoy the self photo as you can plainly see

On Wednesday night, we had a girls night and went out for some laser tag! I did *NOT* dominate. But managed to have fun, nonetheless.

the girls, pre-game, prepare to blow each other into smithereens. we look delighted about the prospect, no? our code names: meowrer, hoos, silver bullet, adult ninja, ms. fancy, sparky, black majic woman and rainbow brite. guess which one was me??

it was hazy in there, but don't we look like fierce competition? i bet you would hate to run into any one of us in a dark alley. or in a black-lit jungle gym-esque room in west knoxville. your butt would be capped, pronto.

Everyone took it very seriously, BTW. Three ladies chose to wear all black. I didn't know about the black light situation and wore my white tube top. Ooops. Despite my lack of pre-game prep, I finished out middle of the pack!

tabby (silver bullet) finished best of all of us in 8th place, and ames (hoos) finished last in 28th place (sorry ames, just reporting the facts here). i finished in 14th place - there were all these punk kids running around that kept popping me. no joke, one kid followed me around for like five minutes and kept zapping me every time i would reload. what a jerk.

Here you can see who you capped, and who capped who capped who during the game:

i can't say for sure, but i'm fairly certain it was captain awesome who was responsible for following me around for five minutes

Then we went to supper. Good times!

Some of you may not know that Tommy was recently called to jury duty. He was really ticked about having to report and was hopeful that he wouldn't be assigned to a case as everyone assured him would be what would happen; you get called, report for orientation, have to phone in a day or two and then released. I had a lot of fun teasing him about fulfilling his civic duty... until he got assigned to a murder trial. Oh dear. After three days of testimony, he and his peers convicted a man of first degree murder after an hour and a half of deliberation. I was very quick to assure him that he likely wouldn't be assigned to another trial after that heavy-hitting whopper of a case, and the next week? Foreman of the jury on a crack cocaine case. Oh my.

In any event, his check for performing his civic duty arrived the other day!

muchas gracias, homas. i just hope they let him cash the check. mama needs a new pair of shoes!

Next up, Carrie Ann Fox gets married to Chris King!

Carrie and Chris are friends from Bearden High School (go Bulldogs) and have been dating for several years now, and have been planning an epic wedding for months now. It was so fancy it was covered monthly in Knoxville Magazine since September! Last night they tied the knot, and Mr. Smith and I were lucky enough to be invited!

we sit at the wedding service with ben, caroline and jack jordan, and nancy cross! caroline and jacks mother, heather (ben's wife, nancy's daughter and my childhood bff) was a bridesmaid in the wedding!

It was a beautiful wedding at Central Baptist of Bearden. After the service we head to the reception at the Hilton downtown. Mr. Smith and I parked our gear at a table near the dance floor (girlfriend loves to cut a rug, yo) and went for food and drinks. When we got back, the entire table had been bogarted with the exception of one chair. Hoping to get all the Cross/Jordans in too, we moved to another table... and had our extra seats bogarted immediately. We did this twice before I marched to the far corner of the room and staked my claim at a perfectly empty table.

Boy, am I ever glad I did.

THEY HAD A PHOTO BOOTH IN THAT CORNER THAT YOU COULD TAKE YOUR PICTURE IN FOR FREE.

I wore that mother out. I think that the concept was that everyone would go in once and have their pictures made and Carrie and Chris would have this nice, unique photo album of their wedding attendants. They didn't count on me. Anytime there was no line for photos, I would stop eating and go get my pictures made. It. Was. Awesome.

Please enjoy a montage of my narcissism:

me and heather

me, tommy and heather (three didn't work out as good as two)

tommy and me in black and white

tommy and me in color

That thing was genius. Seriously, I want a photo booth for my living room. After word got out about the photo booth, the line crapped up and I had to stop getting my picture taken and let other people take a turn. Sorry Carrie and Chris - your photo booth wedding album is going to be a little Megan-heavy.

The line got so long and the band started playing, so the line people started dancing. Tommy went over to say hello to Celeste and she took her aggression at having to wait in line out on him... and kinda danced a little too.

but it scared the pants off mr. smith. and made me laugh.

Next up, party, party, party!

the bridesmaids line up and await carrie and chris's arrival to the reception

here we have me and heather after the wedding smelling heather's posies she carried during the service

cutie pies, ben and heather

cutie pies, me and mr. smith

cutie pies, heather and me!

After photos, dinner, drinks, dancing fun fun fun, time to send off the happy couple! The last wedding I attended we had sachets of lavender to throw at the Masons as they departed. Tommy beaned his whole sachet at Marty's head and I accidentally washed one and am still picking lavender out of the lint dryer. I was pleasantly surprised to see:

flower petals! nice and soft, and machine-washable.

heather, amber and melissa eagerly await carrie and chris

We send off the bride and groom! Since Heather and Ben live in Memphis we don't get to visit often, so we all trooped down to the hotel bar to visit a bit longer before going to bed.

After awhile a rumor started about an after party. An epic after party. IN THE SUNSPHERE. The Sunsphere is my favorite and I am super bummed that it's closed down now. I did a post about it last year, which you can see here. So - rumor or no, we are off to see if there is in fact, a party in the Sunsphere.

We were not disappointed. THERE WAS A PARTY WAITING!

random dude, mr. and mrs. king, mr. and mrs. smith wait for the elevator at the sunsphere

that'll get your attention

i think i may have mentioned before that this is the longest elevator ride EVER

We get upstairs and have more fun! There was dancing:

i cut a rug

heather cuts a rug

me heather and amber

amber is preggers, btw - isn't she a cute pregnant lady?

If you will please note - it's very dark up here. And I had never been on this floor before, and for those of you who don't know - the Sunsphere floors are shaped like a doughnut with the elevator shaft going straight up the middle. You can conceivably walk around in a circle non-stop. Ever since losing my camera, I am super crazy about not losing stuff. Last weekend I tucked my camera in my Ugg boot since I didn't have any pockets, forgot and frantically searched for about ten minutes before remembering my camera was in my SHOE. Last night, I dropped my stuff off at a table and lost it in the dark. Also take into the fact that the room being a non-stop ring I got confused as to where it was in the first place. Heather and Ben tried to help me find my things and it really cracked me up when they both VERY PROUDLY presented me with someone else's coat and handbag. HAHAHAHA, thanks for the help, guys.

No worries, we finally tracked my things down and headed home after a super fun night. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. King for inviting us to the wedding! We had a ball!

This morning was daylight saving time! I cannot stand to look at a clock and know that it is telling the wrong time, so before I even brushed my teeth I went around the house and reset all the clocks. We have a grandfather clock that is especially difficult to set - you can't roll the hands backwards and you have to stop at every hour and let the clock chime through its cycle or you'll confuse it's poor little clock brain. It takes about ten minutes to go through the process. I started just a little before 9 AM and it wasn't until I scrolled through a whole 25 hours that I realized I'd gone too far and had to start all over again. DANGIT.

that's twenty minutes of my extra hour i got gone already. here we have me setting the clock the first time in my monkey pajamas.

Next, we went out for brunch!

this is my favorite booth in all the world at the crown and goose. tommy is under the weather but puts and a brave face. we coined a new phrase this weekend: 'when in doubt, go out.'

Amanda and John show up and join us! In case you hadn't noticed, we are a very diverse lot.

of the poinsettia, mimosa and champagne variety

This was advertised for Thursday night at the Crown and Goose, and we are going!

except i'm not eating the muscles

Have a great week, everyone!
