Max and Lucy Save the Universe, I Love Chimay, and Homecoming Fun

Another exciting week!

We went to Mama and Daddy's house Sunday night for Family Hour. Max and Lucy were in attendance, and currently they both have a Star Wars obsession. Clay and Kim were smart shoppers and picked up a couple of steal-of-a-deal post-Halloween costumes at Wal-Mart. So actually, Max and Lucy didn't come to Family Hour, Anakin and Padme did.

Now I know this won't mean anything to you parents out there, but I am seriously astounded at the amount of plastic crap that children accumulate in adolescence. Combine that with: I am seriously astounded that children would more often times than not play with garbage rather than the mountain of plastic crap they own. For months, Mama and Daddy have had a large box (big enough BARELY) to fit two children in and it has been the go-to toy of the season. It has seen service as a car, a train, a wagon and currently is serving as a makeshift Millennium Falcon. Tommy has seen the various iterations, but upon a review of Mama's handiwork with a Sharpie (MAMA!) to make the box (former car, train and wagon) into Millennium Falcon decided to take matters into his own hands. He requested a Sharpie and:

got to work. lucy looks on in awe.

In no time flat they had a whole new space ship with which to defend the universe. And smuggle Jedis, of course.

there's a tie fighter in the radar, see? there's also a keypad on the doors that max and lucy I MEAN anakin and padme make 'boop, boop!' noises while poking the box in order to gain entry.

At the end of the day, everyone is pleased with Tommy's handiwork.

On Thursday, we attended a Chimay beer tasting!

i'd never even heard of this beer before. but upon learning that a 12 oz. bottle is $12 in a bar, and the tasting covered four beers and four courses for the bargain basement price of $35.... well, color me intrigued!

It's a Trappist ale that is made and sold by monks in Belgium. They give most of the money away to charities - but I didn't ask which ones. I should have pushed the Hearing and Speech Foundation, but in ANY EVENT, a good time was had by all.

mr. and mrs. mason (newly back from honeymooning), mr. and mrs. smith, mrs. womac and mr. johnson and new friends lauren and karl mckim!

First course:

frites and mussles (not muscles)

Second course:

trappist cheese, grilled on bread and onion soup (my favorite course)

Third course:

duck and on greens with mashed potatoes

Finally:

chocolate liquor milkshake

You'll notice that I didn't take but one picture of the beer and photos of every course of food... I know what's important!

The next day was Homecoming Friday at UT! The whole office piled out to Volunteer Blvd. to watch the parade go by.

friends and co-workers betsy, philppa me and heather line up to see all the nice floats

Proof positive that it is, in fact:

homecoming

Next day off to the football game!

one of my favorite things of all times - running through the t! btw, friday i had to field a phone call from a man who wanted to see if his wife could run through the t. i had to let him down. don't worry, i was gentle. it was funny though because you could tell he'd been passed around several offices and several departments and no one would just flat out say, 'no.' i told him 'no.'

Now if you had been in attendance on Saturday, you would have never in a million years believed this weather was mid-November weather. NEVER. I thought I was dressing appropriately by wearing this, see?

turtleneck and leggings under a cutie pie dress, check!

But before everyone standing up had a chance to sit down after watching the running through the T, I had transitioned into:

naked megan. it was hotter than blue blazes sitting in that sun. as it turned out, i dressed spot on - i shed my leggings and sweater and just wore the dress (it was a bit short, but hey - at least i wasn't sweaty). i folded the sweater and leggings up and used them as a seat cushion!

naked megan calm, cool and collected. i even found two sad little broken hair pins in my pocketbook and managed to pin my hair up even.

Next up, friend Scott Causey came to town for homecoming, and brought new friend, Clint! We go shoot pool after the Vols' victory.

girl who i met whose name i forgot, tommy, ki, scott, shana, brooke and clint

The blondes pick the Blonde beer as their beer of choice:

but picky kristina thought it tasted skunky

The girls all visit:

you knew that was coming...

And discuss fashion.

i guess i should look into getting one of these since it's obviously THE accessory of the season

And finally, please peruse a montage of photos where I nearly whack everyone in the head with my pool cue:

brooke takes a whack

and shana

forgot name girl's turn

and they finally take away my cue

Lastly, lastly; Cutie-pie Mr. Smith and Gigglebox Megan:

'sup? says tommy and tee hee! says i

Have a great week! Exciting events on the horizon; stay tuned!!
