Summer is winding down... a FROWN!
But to celebrate the end of summer in style, we have a birthday party for Kristina! The children made her a special star cuppy cake because she is the star. They were very helpful as well when it comes to candle arrangement (of course).
attention to detail, check
'cause baby, i'm a STAR! (a la the artist currently and formerly known as prince)
the children are once again very helpful in the candle-blowing-out department
Next, we go to my second cousin's wedding, the former Miss Jennifer Ferguson, now Mrs. Johnson! I have grown up calling her Jenny and seriously had some trouble finding her registry under Jennifer. Duh. (I'm a natural blonde and it shows on occasion).
No one gave me the lowdown that this was a garden wedding (despite the fact it was held in the Knoxville Botanical Gardens, ahem; see note re: blonde status) and wore four-inch heels. After falling about twelve times, Mama took pity on me and traded shoes before she left for the evening so Mr. Smith and I could go cut a rug in relative safety. She took off with these:
my favorite shoes
Seriously - Mama's got pretty legs, but check this out:
whoo-whoo! those babies should be insured for a million a stem! i think she just recognized early on how awesome my shoes were and engineered a steal. mama.... i'm on to you!!! well played mama... well played.
Because she left me with:
clodhoppers that don't even fit. ah well. at least i ended the evening intact and didn't make an scene with an untimely tumble.
Beautiful wedding and good times with family and friends!
Lastly, I took first cousin once removed by marriage Ashton for a run out at Ijams! We noted no wildlife until:
we found a turtle crossing the road (to get to the other side HAHAHAHA). i stopped the car but wasn't brave enough to go pick up mr. turtle, and brave ashton picked him up without blinking an eye. she then proceeded to try to take him in the car but hastily completed his journey across the road when i shrieked at her to not bring the turtle in the car.
Fun times, Ashton - we'll do it again soon! (with less turtle, I fondly hope...)
Now it hardly seems possible... but next weekend football season starts! Mr. Smith is off to a bachelor party in Vegas and I'll be left to my own devices. Lord knows what I'll get into! Whee!!!
