But first, a few odds and ends...
Last of the Sterling Cooper Mowrer Smith pics:

here we are trying our shirts on the night before the race

here we are after our first partners' meeting

and here we are laughing, exhausted and panting at the finish line - oh and we finished in 11th place, not 12th as i originally thought! i am super proud of us!
NPR's Story Corp is in town!
and no, i didn't tell them my story
My friend Betsy just recently returned from a trip to Chile! She had lots of fun adventures and almost didn't come back home. Boy, I'm sure glad she did! The 5th floor wouldn't be the same without her. She was wearing this gorgeous orange wrap the other day and she said it was from Chile, bought from an alpaca farm they visited. One photo she shared with me:
she says she can't tell herself from the alpaca. that really made me laugh, but isn't true!
Next, Museum of Appalachia Fall Homecoming! I played hookey from work (not really. But I took the day off) and went for a visit. Very exciting things!
i get a hay ride sans hay
berry basket bill gives me a berry basket pin
and GASP! i get to meet santa claus! he's getting his r and r in for the big day!
And before moving on, let me wrap up the Odds and Ends section with:
this is the grossest thing i have ever, and i mean EVER, made. it's a roast. please take note: do NOT EVER for ANY REASON think beets would be good in a pot roast. you will be wrong.
You may recall a few months ago I helped Amanda get ready for her big day over at Moonshadow. I didn't go into great detail, but one of the biggest tasks we had at hand was to hang bolts and bolts of burlap over a tool shed at Barking Beetle where the reception was held. See?

burlap galore
Well, next weekend is Shawn O'Donnell's big day! She's having her and Marty's wedding at a farm in Greenback, TN. It being a rustic setting, an outdoor wedding, and the fact that she will soon be Mrs. MASON (i.e. the jar for her flower vases), she opted for burlap table runners. Me being the efficient and cost saving go-between friend mentioned to Amanda that Shawn might be in the market for some cheap (read: free) burlap and...
the burlap and i reunited (but it don't feel so good)
Now, the burlap was pretty intense to string and hang. In fact, we woke up the morning of Amanda's wedding to find a lot of it had come unravelled and fallen down in the night. I busted my butt over that burlap already. Please imagine my horror when after 30 minutes of kneeling and cutting on that same burlap when:
my knees break out in a rash. a little while later? blisters. on my knees. apparently, i'm allergic to burlap.
And now I look like a little girl who roller skates too much. Ah well. I cut, and Kristina, Jenny and Shawn took turns ironing:
permanent press they say... not so much
Operation Burlap the Sequel is another resounding success!
we showed that burlap who's boss
Then, time to help Shawn with her music! Here you have us helping select songs for the evening:
i was absolutely no help. apparently my suggestions for duran duran, ke$ha and jimmy buffet fell on deaf ears. humph.
So I cuddled the baby!
two blonde cuties who both love themselves some kiehl's
Oh and the boys helped with the pre-wedding prep too!
no they didn't
Lastly, in the "Friends Will Always Tell You The Truth" category; the girls all told me my asymmetrical skirt looked stupid and:
gave it a haircut
symmetry is the new black evidently
all even!
Next week - Mason/O'Donnell wedding! Can't wait!
