So perhaps you heard that I officially have an FNJ. It's true. I do. Since I endeavor to be a diligent employee, at lunch with my mother on Friday I asked we take a quick detour to update my work ID. She said she had trained many of the ladies at the card office on various software packages, and she would enjoy visiting with some of her old students and would be happy to run that errand with me. So, she visited with the ladies and I:

had a new id made! double megans! i'm totally prettier now. |
The ladies at the card office noted that they hadn't seen Mama in awhile, and Mama surprised them all by informing them of her retirement. They bemoaned the fact that they lost a crackerjack software trainer, but congratulated her nonetheless. Then, someone noted that they likely didn't know that Mama had retired because she hadn't come into the card office to get her retiree ID made. So, before you could say "it's senior coffee day at McDonalds" Mama and I both:

had spanking new ids made for the both of us! |
Hey, notice something in that picture? On my thumb? No? A few weeks ago I was trying to wrangle a handcart to go move some boxes, and I accidentally pinched my thumb. It was the only time I swore in my office (haha if you stopped reading now I bet you are thinking LIAR!!!) loud enough that someone outside of my office heard me swear. (IT HURT, MAMA.) Maybe you remember my experience a few years ago with one
Mr. Purple?
Please, may I introduce you to:

spot's not nearly as much fun as Mr. Purple. He's already making tracks outta here. Anywho...
So! Back to my FNJ. Along with my FNJ comes a FNIP (fancy new iPad). I am learning how to use it, and am carrying it with me everywhere, but it is seldom that I make it to a meeting with only her in tow. (Oh her name is Peppermint Paddy, BTW). I'm still paper and pen dependent. As it turns out, it's great for a lot of other things besides work stuff. I had only ventured to discover HBO Go (love you, Sex and the City reruns and Game of Thrones) and that it is an EXCELLENT babysitter for wee ones. I found that out by accident when I was in Memphis and promised Jack we would watch Thomas the Train, and his video messed up. I got Peppermint Paddy out and YouTubed a bunch of clips and let him have his way with her. He was hooked! It wasn't until I returned home and a week later tried to take a picture of my cat that I found that he had taken more than 200 pictures of himself. (no joke) Please enjoy a montage of a few of my faves:

Having learned this lesson, the next time I was with Max and Lucy, I brought out Ms. Paddy and showed her to them. They love her more than they love me. Humph.

And you know if there's a toy that entertains children, a select few adults need to examine it as well:

Next, I went on a girls' weekend away! To Stacey Clark's house! Every year on Super Bowl Weekend, her husband Jay kindly makes himself scarce, and the ladies invade their domicile. I again slept on an air mattress in one of their (larger) closets with Amanda. When we arrived on Saturday, everyone was involved in crafty projects, primarily of jewelry-nature. I wasn't feeling jewelry-ey, so I perused, and thought, and waded through beads and rings and stones until I felt the urge to make a FNK (fancy new keychain). I started on it at about 4 PM, and about 2 AM I went to bed with the rest of the lot. I picked it up again in the morning, and kept on going strong. It was described during the weaving process as various things - a halter top, a thong, a bathing suit and pasties were a few of my faves. But around about 1 PM this afternoon, I had in my hands:

the fanciest key chain of all time, space and dimension. i guarantee you this is what hans olo has on the key to the millienium falcon. fo sho. |
Lastly, I leave you with another title that has caught my eye:

Thanks Clarks, for the fun weekend! I'm off to catch up on my sleep (and to soak my hands in epsom salts. Oy vey...)
Over and out.
