Fall Odds and Ends...

I had a lot planned to do this weekend. Mr. Smith was going out of town, and I had a whole slew of activities and items in the hopper to get done. My main mission this weekend? To get my Santa Clauses out for their annual appearance!

It is something I enjoy tremendously (as evidenced here and here). I was really looking forward to a quiet house to organize and get everything out and straight and in order and tenderly place all my Santas lovingly upon my bookshelves in a happy jumble. Everything was going to plan - I unloaded the books, loaded out the Santas, packed up the books, cleaned off the shelves good, went into the kitchen to work on a special Megan supper that Tommy hates that I love, and all of a sudden... didn't feel good. Now here's where being healthy is sometimes a double edge sword: I forget what it feels like to be sick. I went and sat down for an hour, and I just thought I was tired. By the time I figured out that maybe I was nauseous, and maybe I better go to the bathroom.... well. I leave it to your imagination. Suffice to say, I think Tommy's pretty glad he was out of town for this little episode. I cashed in a ton of bestie points with Amanda who made a late night Fellini Kroger run for Sprite and Jello for me. Thank you!

here we have camp megan, complete with my own personal heater, loki smith. last night i watched 7brides for 7 brothers, wizard of oz, four episodes of friends and most of big trouble in little china before finally falling asleep.

i managed to get them all out. i'd rest a little, sort a little. rest a little arrange a little. they're en force now! here we have proudly displayed my finest acquisition - mardi gras beads! whee!

two guys didn't make it through the year up in the attic. pencil claus is pretty sad, and the cork on snow globe claus rotted out and all the water leaked away. two soldiers, gone for the cause....

Puking aside, in other news: if I thought my recent camping trip with Amanda got me out of my comfort zone, lemme tell ya about getting Amanda out of her comfort zone. She agreed to be a model at her recent fashion show fundraiser at the Barn Event Center of the Smokies. Amanda, fearless Amanda, who is going to save the world single-handedly, was nervous about modeling clothes. I've never seen her be so shy! It was adorable, and a side of her I'd never seen. I'm glad we're still learning things about each other! We had a great time, and lots of nice money was raised for the foundation.

for some reason the cowardly lion shutting his eyes and saying "i do believe in spooks, i do, i do, i do!" comes to mind! (see note re: movies i watched last night)

ham as per usual

adina and megan

yea we survived!

Next up, Tom Smith came to visit and we went to a football game! In case the picture does not speak for itself, Tom had a great time:

yeah. he had fun. we all did.

We also took a walk down to the water to visit on the Vol Navy with soon-to-be New Yorker, Emily Womac on our friend Jeff's boat. I'd never done that before and it was a fun time!

i don't think i could have made it to jeff's boat in the dark without falling in the river. you had to walk across three other peoples' slippery boats to get to his. fortunately made it on and off without a disaster!

vol navy toot toot! thanks jeff!

while at the tailgate, jp's mother, jean palmer came up to tell me how much she enjoys my blog. it made my day.  thank you!

I leave you with four items of interest. I went to Wal-Mart yesterday pre-puking, and I only go there like once a year. I'm like a Sherpa preparing for Mt. Everest when I go. I was wandering around a little bit and found a section called "As Seen On TV." In spite of the inner Megan telling the outer Megan to not push her buggy into that aisle, inner Megan won out. I knew I'd end up buying some kind of crap. And I did.

uh. they didn't fit. pajama jeans, my aunt fanny. or my fanny, one.

Tommy insisted on putting in a garden this summer. I didn't want to have to put in my share of the time to do it properly, but he really wanted fresh tomatoes and basil all summer long. Here we have my vegetable garden:

it is somewhat less than victorious. weeds, anyone?

He's going to kill me, but:

my cutie patootie tommy's senior composite picture. i love it.
Lastly, welcome to the world, baby Julianna Hope Jordan! Heather and Ben welcomed their youngest daughter, and Jack and Caroline welcomed their baby sister into the world on November 3. That baby going to be SPOILT! Can't wait to meet her in a couple of weeks. Congratulations!
