Hair and Heros

Last week I got to do something I have been dying to do for months, and preparing to do for a couple of years. I finally had enough hair to give to Locks of Love. And it was about time; my hair has been driving me BANANAS. Although I had been talking about doing this since about December, when I got to the salon and told Cindy Lou what I had in mind, she balked. We talked about it more and more, and she literally had me to the point where I changed my mind and was going to keep it long when she got out her scissors and...

snip... see ya hair...

i am literally dizzy in this photo - my head practically bobbed up...

hope this makes a little bald child very happy

Next, it's time to go to Hero's Con! It's held in Charlotte every summer and it's usually the only comic convention I attend throughout the year. It's super fun visiting with everyone!

the whole studio! well, mostly...

While there I was introduced to these little babies:

sweet potato tater tots. i ate myself sick on them the first night we were there.

I actually don't spend a lot of time at the show. I like to walk around and see the city. They had a sculpture garden that I found the first day:

neat!

And it also gives me the opportunity to pay a visit to my cousin and his lovely family, the Sam Hills! We don't often get a chance to see each other, so it was very nice to catch up. I was excited to see them until...

it was revealed that they keep vermin in the house. vivian was taking care of her kindergarten class's pet rat, remi. ahem.

Sam's wife, Jenna, is a FB junkie, so I figured she'd notice that it was posted the day I came over was my birthday, and my little cousin Ellis blurted out upon my arrival that they'd gotten me a cake. They did. It was adorable. Seriously, I teared up when they all sang Happy Birthday to me.

when it was time to go, they all piled on the front porch and waved me goodbye.

But birthday fun was ONLY BEGINNING!! We went out to supper to a fancy seafood restaurant and the Mettlers, JD and Amy, bought us a nice bottle of wine! THEN....

the studio wives arranged for fancy dessert for both me and fellow gemini, stacey! thanks, guys!

yes, it was late and i was pooped. but what a fun birthday day for me!

The next day, Tommy and I had frowney faces because we had to go home. We didn't leave immediately - I did have the chance to meet...

Great birthday weekend - thank you to everyone who was with me to celebrate! 37 is starting off superbly!
